How to send a takedown notice

A valid takedown notice under the DMCA must include all of the following:

(a) A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner;

(b) Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;

(c) Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information sufficient to permit us to locate it;

(d) Your contact information (address, telephone number, email);

(e) A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;

(f) A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the right that is allegedly infringed.

Send the complete notice to the Designated Agent above. The full takedown, counter-notification, and repeat-infringer provisions are set out in our Terms of Service, Section 14.

Note: under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing or was wrongly removed may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. If you are unsure whether use of the material is infringing, consult an attorney before sending a notice.
